Hey guys.. I know it's getting to be more like a week or two in between my updates, but as of late, my mis-adventures have been a little scarce.. however.. The past weekend was St. Patrick's Day, and we made sure to celebrate full-out Irish. Friday night, we went to dinner at an Italian restaurant(I split a garlic pizza. With only garlic, cheese and the crust. Not even sauce. Hmm..Does wonders for your breath.) After dinner, a few friends and I went to a dance party at one of the student dorms, and stayed forever.. until I ran to meet the bus.. woke up around 10:30am Saturday, and went to Courtney's 21st birthday party at her house.. around 3, went to karaoke and from there headed to Bumphy's Irish Pub..an actual, authentic Irish Pub owned by some Irish guy and featuring Irish music live every night. Had some Guinness and a Hobgoblin. From there, we went to ID Club.. keep in mind that this is the place I went to much earlier in the year, and was not allowed in because I was only 19. You have to be 20 here in Japan to get into dance clubs. So I waited.. Now I am 20, and I went Saturday. When I got there, showed my ID, and they pointed out to me that they recently changed the policy to 21 year olds and up, but since it was new, they were being lenient. Also, they told me to tell anyone who asked, that I was 21. Weird. Inside, not a huge deal. Four or so floors of loud music and people pretending to dance. Occassionally you see people who really are dancing, and you quickly learn to stay away from them, or else you will be that much more obvious that you can't dance. Unfortunately, some people I know can dance, and they were there. I hate dancing. We stayed out all night, and after the club closed at 3am, we went to the Royal Host, which is very much like a Denny's or something.. except that they have Denny's restaurants here.. anyway, this is one of the very few restaurants that refill your coffee.. so we killed a coupla hours there after dancing, and then took the first trains home. Woke up that Sunday around 4:30pm. Yep. Needless to say, the entire weekend was pretty hazy.. Monday was school, but not much going on. And the first day of Spring(here a little early) is a holiday, so we didn't have school on Tuesday. So Monday some of us went to the Hard Rock Cafe and followed that up with karaoke. Lots of fun. Tuesday was sleeping, and playing poker with Paul and Zemlyak. Hey, I have a part-time job teaching English in private lessons.. I filled in for Grant last week, and there was a new kid whose Mom decided that she wanted him to take private English lessons from someone like me. So I have a job now. Coupla times a week. Not too shabby. Also, read some more books.. read Catch-22, Sleepers(the movie was based on this book) and Nightwatch. Also, I am very close to finishing a Stephen King book of 4 novellas, including "The Body"(the movie Stand By Me is based on this), Apt Pupil(another movie) and "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption"(a Film). Well, I have class in a few minutes, but will quickly wrap up..next week is Spring Break, and I will be heading to Okinawa for a week of beaches, relaxation, and checking out what Japan has to offer in the way of non-metropolis land area. Catch you kids later..when I write next, I hope to be sufficiently sun-burnt. Peace, Love and 7-foot waves Chas Previous Post Next Post Top of the Page Back to Main
