Not a lot to update for.. just a quick rundown of the weekend, etc..
On Friday, our literature class was cancelled, so a few of us went to dinner and
karaoke. Lots of fun. Saturday, wasn't feeling so great, so I read Kurt Vonnegut's
"Slaughterhouse Five." I also went to dinner with Alex and had ice cream with the
other ND guys. 500 yen for 7 (small) scoops of ice cream isn't too bad.
Slaughterhouse Five was great. I wish I were assigned to write a paper on it, because
there is so much I would like to write about.. I highly recommend it.
Sunday, went to lunch with Meghan, and dinner and karaoke with Paul. We were supposed
to meet a few other people for the karaoke, but Paul couldn't get ahold of any of
them, resulting in a two man karaoke fest with all the worst songs you can sing. We
even kept score of our top scoring songs, and for a long time, our highest score was
Barbie Girl. Horrible. Luckily, we ended with a good song: "Sounds of Silence" and it
ended up being our highest score for the night.
Monday, class. Tuesday, class and Courtney's girls choir concert. That was fun..
there were 11 little Japanese girls(most Japanese people are little, comparatively)
and one blonde haired girl with one of the best voices in the group. Also the only
one with a solo, and that was during "Lonely Goatherd" from Sound of Music. They also
did Edelweiss, many Japanese songs, and the encore(at a choir concert?!) was a nice
arrangement of "Bridge Over Troubled Water," though performed a bit fast.
Hey, my watch stopped working. So I went to get batteries, and couldn't find the
right one. So I asked the guy at the desk, and he said that Japan makes watches too,
so Japanese people wear those. Why would they bother carrying batteries for watches
that nobody wears? So my Timex watch will remain still for a while, and I will have
to survive by using my cell phone clock. Err...
Speaking of cell phones, mine is so convenient. I use it quite a bit, mostly for
incoming calls, which are free. But I also use it to page certain people..like
Paul. You call, and hang up without them answering, but the receiving phone still
registers that you got the call, and who called you(gotta love technology)..
essentially making for a free pager call.

house on Friday with a bunch of other people.. maybe Karaoke again..

Peace,
Chas
